California just passed a law requiring publicly traded companies to include a minimum number of women on their boards. Be prepared for a lot of conversations with people who say this is discrimination against men, or who say they support diversity but don’t think quotas are the right way to increase it. This article explains that quotas raise quality by attracting highly qualified women who would otherwise be turned away by an unfair process, and by replacing mediocre men with highly qualified women.
